If you happen to have ancestors (or as the case may be, more recent relatives), that lived around Carter County, Tennessee and/or worked at Bemberg or North American Rayon then you may be interested in the new series of indexes that I am preparing. I have compiled an index for only one issue so far but will be adding several more over the next few weeks. So if you are interested, have a look at the June 26, 1930 Watauga Spinnerette Index and let me know what you think!

I think any information you find and put online from the Spinnerettes is great. Many families and their children’s pictures were in there and what it would be if the entire book could be put on line for everyone that had families who worked there to be able to see them. My dad worked at Bemberg and North American for many years and like so many other children our pictures were in the August 1952 Spinnerette. I take it out every so often and look at the pictures and carefully replace it in the drawer for safe keeping.

I believe members of my Blevins family worked at this plant. I am currently working on a genealogy/family history book about my Blevins family from Carter County, and I see that your index has a reference to C.S. Blevins on page 11(p). I believe that is my great (great) uncle, Carmon Stewart Blevins, I would gladly pay a fee to see what that is. Please let me know how I may acquire a copy of the article and/or photo, and I would be very interested in seeing anything in this publication concerning the Blevins and Whitehead families. Thanks so much.
